VOLUNTEER ESL TEACHER/TUTOR
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title
ESL Volunteer Teacher/Tutor
Qualifications
Ability to speak, read, and write English; respectful of cultural difference;
flexible desire to develop teaching skills.
Training
Participate in a two day training workshop and minimum fours of follow-up
training throughout the semester.
Commitment
Minimum of one semester (14 to 16 weeks) and a minimum
of 4 hours per scheduled class.
Responsibilities
Assist each student in setting goals Prepare lesson for assigned class Arrive for teaching at least 10 minutes before scheduled class Implement teaching techniques provided in tutor training and tutor manual Participate in performance evaluation, including lesson review and teaching observations by Lead ESL Instructor Provide attendance roster, lesson plan outlines, and progress reports to Lead ESL Instructor each month Notify the Lead ESL in advance if you are unable to teach a lesson Be willing to consider participating in additional program activities and fundraisers
